On the water

Reefs, whales and
a coastline you'll remember

The run out of Gansbaai takes you past some of the best scenery in the Cape. Even on a slow day for fish, the wildlife along this stretch does the heavy lifting, and the inshore water stays calm enough that you can sit back and enjoy it.

Who's taking you out

Taught by his dad,
on this same water

That's him on the right, standing next to a fish almost as big as he was. His father taught him to read this coast. Where the reef comes up, which banks hold fish in a westerly, how long you sit before you move.

Decades later he's still doing it, off the same harbour, and now he's the one showing people where to drop a line. You get all of that on the boat with you, whether it's your first time out or your fiftieth.

Before you come

Good to know

Bring with you

  • Warm clothes, because it is colder on the water than on land
  • Shoes that can get wet
  • Sunglasses, a hat and sunblock
  • Eat a proper meal before you come. Going out on an empty stomach is the fastest way to feel sick.
  • Seasickness tablets if you are prone to it. Take them the night before.

How it works

  • We leave from Gansbaai Harbour and confirm the time when you book
  • Half day trips run with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 people
  • The half day is 5 hours. Want to stay out longer? Extra time is R300 per person per hour when the fish are biting.
  • You need a valid fishing licence. If you do not have one, we will help you get sorted before the day.
  • Message the number below with your dates and we will take it from there
Weather comes first. Every charter depends on the sea. If conditions turn we move the trip rather than push it, and nobody can promise a specific fish on a specific day.
